Phillip Ellison is a connector, community builder, creative problem solver, strategist, and advocate. Phillip co-leads his family's business Joe's Barbershop, and THC: The Harlem Convening. Joe's Barbershop, opened in 1964, once a speakeasy and the oldest barbershop in Harlem, is now a cannabis-friendly space to connect, create, and be authentic. Phillip launched THC: The Harlem Convening at Joe's Barbershop to promote cannabis industry education and social equity pathways among BIPOC cannabis entrepreneurs/communities. He is a member of the Cannabis Association of New York and was the inaugural Civic Innovation Fellow at Cornell [University] Tech. He is also a lecturer at Tufts University in the entrepreneurship program.
